Okay, I wanted to scream „Amen!“ after every paragraph and I’m not even religious! I hate those hot summer days, I’m not made for that.
Just at the weekend we were camping and it was raining everyday which made me so happy. Just right before the storm I went outside to watch a bright red sunset while the first raindrops fell down on wild flowers and it was just perfect!
And just yesterday I started writing a text about rainy days, cause I just love them. What you describe at the end of your letter - the eternal grumbling about the weather as if it’s just possible to do things with heat and sunshine - I’m so annoyed by it and I really don’t get it. It's as if people let their lives be dictated to them by the weather, while they are actually so independent and self-determined, at least that's what they like to say.
Well, you see, the text resonated a lot with me, thanks for that :)
(Read it on a rainy Monday morning while laying on the sofa and sipping my coffee.)
Oh Nadja... it's like I have been waiting my whole life to hear someone actually express these feelings... I have always felt so alienated... Summer Sun, "good weather" stresses me... I want to cherish happiness on any day like you... not only on summer days... God, I am so tired of people telling me, I should love the heat as I am from the Middle East. Seriously??? Firstly: You can go skiing in Tehran...just saying. And second: No one like the heat in Tehran, like in Sicily or any other super hot summer spot... I so feel you, dear. All that sweating... Amen to all your words. Thanks for making me feel understood. Love, Samira
OMG - so I don’t know how many times I’ve written a friend the message ‘it’s all good but it’s just so busyyyyy’ - too much stress. Will my dinner slow down? No, because the kids are off school which means that now is the only time of year certain things can happen. But thank you for articulating it.
My pleasure! I just find the weird pressure around summer so intense and unnecessary! It is too much! I know it's gonna be difficult with kids, but I do hope you can find at least some peaceful pockets throughout the next couple of months!
Summer Depression. Kids home, bored, driving across the city to take them to summer camps, baking in my car! Thank God they are adults now!
Too freaking hot to be out during the day. The Texas sun assaults me.
I do love sun. I need sun, which is why I’m depressed because I can’t go out until the sun goes down in summers here. I love the beach. Unfortunately, I can’t always be at the beach.
oh gosh yes, Texas sun is a killer! You need to write something about summer depression haha! We only ever hear about winter depression (SAD), people like us need to feel included too! 😂 I hope you do get some beach time soon! x
I lived in East Asia and assimilated to their ways…an SPF-lined umbrella is the perfect way to bring shade with you wherever you go. It’s the solution for those of us who hate sun. I like looking at it but hard no on feeling it!
Living in japan where summer is 30-35 degrees everyday and 80-100 percent humidity, I am definitely not making the “most” out of summer 😂 glad other folks feel the same way
the lobsters are alive and well 😂
Im only on the first paragraph and already: Amen! I'll read on ...

Hell yeah, I’m glad someone has finally said it out loud!! .. 💪
otherwise I’ve felt like I’m a complete moron (and also a vampire) hating those hot days that burn my soul out of my body 🥵
Thank you!
Burn my soul out of my body 🫠🫠🫠🫠
I was going to say the same thing - THANK YOU for putting out there what I have been thinking and feeling! Feels good to be seen!
💯 here for this. That pressure feels so dated. And periods in heat is literally a bloody hell. Thanks for writing!
It is hell isn't it!!! Thank you for reading and leaving love ❤️

Thank you for being here Samira - and yes, I totally hear all of that!!! Eff summer 😂
Yes, I have something in my drafts bashing European summer!! Give me spring
Hahaha, I cannot wait to read that!
Omg stop, I’m literally writing my next piece about how much I hate the summer. I’m so glad I found this article and (apparently) my tribe! 💜
Welcome on board Dre! 😄 I cannot wait to read your piece!!!
I believe it is summer, all the time, every time the closer you get to the middle of the day around the equator.
🙏🎉

Correction: I love California sun ☀️
I loathe Texas sun.

feeling so seen and deeply understood, thank you.
🤲✨🤲
Where I am, we mostly just have winter and Summer. I hate shorter days, but I’ll take winter over summer anytime.

I’ve been feeling increasingly meh about summer for years and couldn’t quite put into words why. Thank you for finally articulating it for me!!
