Brilliant and timely - Gratitude. Perhaps the alchemization of who we actually are at this moment to the becoming of the human being we actually want to be requires manual dexterity and the ability to transcend the normative behaviours that may surround us. This may in fact require great courage, pain and - yes - Integrity. Best Wishes on your journey and thank you for sharing your thoughts with us all.
I almost didn't publish it. And was agonising over how to phrase things. It means the world that you read it. And thank you for leaving love on the page. I hope this carries into everyday life.
Thank you for this thought-provoking piece! I love it when a piece of writing makes me pause, ponder an reconsider my choices, and call out the BS in my own life. I realize for me that maybe integrity right now isn’t about grand rebellion and makeover of my life, maybe it’s just one uncomfortable “yes” at a time, and ditching those performative values and perfectionism.
Thank you for being here and leaving such an important thought as well. It's all about one small uncomfortable step at a time, 100% yes! Those daily decision are harder than joining a protest!
Loved it! And o totally agree. There is integrity in the big things like keeping your word, meaning what you say and embodying what you value. But it is also found in those little moments too, like taking the shopping cart back to its bay or replacing a toilet roll when you are the last person to use it. I find integrity in doing something because it’s a nice thing to do, even if I don’t benefit from it.
Absolutely! And doing something because it's a NECESSARY thing to do. Even when it doesn't "feel good". Thank you for leaving me some love on the page!
Integrity has been sadly lacking in our world recently, as my Native Elders said, there are those who walk their talk but far too many talk the talk but don't do the walk.
I consider integrity my top core value so I really enjoyed this essay—thanks for sharing it! It feels appropriate to share that the term “blind eye” is typically regarded as ableist (similar to “colour blind” and “tone deaf”) as disabled people and our disabilities are often dragged into these phrases that describe people’s chosen/willful ignorance. It feels unfair as many blind people, obviously, are plenty socially aware/conscious. Just a heads up on some language I encourage you to reconsider. Hope this lands well!
Hits home. I deliberately didn't do any work on the weekend because I was seeking this out. ALL OF IT.
And what did you find!
Do what counts!!!
