What if nobody was left behind? What if friendships were treated with the same sanctity as marriage? What if we didn't hold it up like the holy grail it isn't? What if we did life together instead of having coffee shop friendships? What if a ten minute voicenote by a friend delighted us the same way a two hour podcast by a stranger does? What if our friends children were our children? What if a strangers child was our child too? What if our parents were our friends parents? What if old age didn't equal loneliness? What if sharing our lives was normal so we can fill each others lack and multiply each others abundance? What if the scale wasn't tipped all to one side? What if we understood that community was more than a weekly activity? What if we didn't choose bad love because we're lonely? What if we shared more meals together? What if living with our family didn't exclude living in community? What if family meant something wider altogether? What if family was more than sharing blood? What if we spent the days in play? What if we returned back to the soil instead of back to the office? What if we didn't climb any ladders? What if we saw that this individualistic capitalist dream is what makes us sick? What if we shared what we owned and took care of each others needs? What if we gave a home to the children that already exist instead of making more? What if one person didn't have to shoulder it all alone? What if real joy was on the other side of honesty? What if there was a different way to live that we have forgotten about?
